When the Bough Breaks
When the Bough Breaks (WTBB) is a talk-show podcast for those who find themselves estranged from one or more family members. Guests call in the show to discuss events leading up to their estrangement while sharing resources that will help you cope!
Guests include psychologists, family counselors, life coaches, writers and more!
Show host, cult survivor and author, Alexis Arralynn is one of the few podcasters willing to tackle this difficult and often painful topic of estrangement. Estranged from her entire family for over 10 years, Alexis realizes that one important step toward healing and recovery, is vulnerability and has opened up about her own personal journey of estrangement in several episodes.

A Special Invitation from When the Bough Breaks 🎂
A little birthday request from me and an opportunity for the estrangement community.
I’ve recently been contacted by British TV producer Rachel Forbes, who is conducting early research for a potential U.S.-based documentary series exploring family estrangement.
Rachel works with Raw TV, the London-based production company behind projects including Three Identical Strangers and The Crash. The proposed series would take a thoughtful, honest and compassionate look at family estrangement—including why families become estranged, the realities of low or no contact, and the complicated question of reconciliation.
As part of this early research, Rachel is hoping to speak confidentially with people who have experienced family estrangement or family breakdown. She is particularly interested in hearing from people on different sides of an estrangement and learning about the experiences that don’t always make it into the public conversation.
This is very early-stage research. The series has not currently been commissioned or scheduled for broadcast. An initial conversation with Rachel is confidential and comes with no obligation to participate further.
So, if you’ve ever listened to When the Bough Breaks and thought, “More people need to understand this,” this is an opportunity to help that conversation reach an even wider audience.
And since my birthday is coming up, I’m making a small request: instead of buying me something, share this with someone who might be interested. Consider it my very subtle birthday pressure.
